AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to the Department of Public Welfare for
2 court-ordered payments for mental retardation services in
3 Philadelphia.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. The sum of $4,938,000, or as much thereof as may
7 be necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Department of Public
8 Welfare for the fiscal year July 1, 1988, to June 30, 1989, to
9 pay the costs of the Philadelphia mental retardation services
10 court settlement ordered by the United States District Court for
11 the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on February 2, 1989, in the
12 case of Philadelphia Police and Fire Association for Handicapped
13 Children, Inc., v. City of Philadelphia (case number 88-5305).
14 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
