A RESOLUTION 1 Urging the Governor to proclaim the week of April 20, 1987, as 2 "Community Dental Health Awareness Week." 3 WHEREAS, Dentists and other citizens are concerned about the 4 still-existent need for knowledge and means for better dental 5 health in the community; and 6 WHEREAS, Past attempts at promoting good dental health in 7 Pennsylvania, exemplified by fluoridation of the water supply, 8 have met with tremendous success and a substantial improvement 9 in the dental health of our residents; and 10 WHEREAS, Great advances in the art and science of dentistry 11 make it necessary for all citizens to be educated in the new 12 potentialities of dentistry to improve our quality of life 13 through better dental care than ever before; and 14 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania dentists, as members of the Academy of 15 General Dentistry, a national organization dedicated to 16 educating dentists in the latest means of preserving dental 17 health, have offered to and do speak on dental topics to area
1 civic and social groups in order to stimulate interest in good 2 dental health and the most effective means to achieve it; and 3 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania dentists have a deep interest in 4 promoting dental health in the community's youth by visiting 5 schools, where they counsel, speak and aid in prevention of poor 6 dental health, to the benefit of Pennsylvania school children; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Prevention of poor dental health in our cities and 9 awareness of its causes and remedies is the focus and goal of 10 these programs; therefore be it 11 RESOLVED, That the Senate urge the Governor to proclaim the 12 week of April 20, 1987, as "Community Dental Health Awareness 13 Week"; and be it further 14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to 15 Governor Robert P.
