A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of April 12 through 18, 1987, as "State 2 Telecommunicators' Week." 3 WHEREAS, Over 3,500 dedicated men and women are engaged in 4 the operation of emergency response systems for Federal, State 5 and local governmental entities throughout this Commonwealth; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, These individuals are responsible for responding to 8 the telephone calls of the general public for police, fire and 9 emergency medical assistance and for dispatching said assistance 10 to help save the lives and property of our citizens; and 11 WHEREAS, Such calls include not only police, fire and 12 emergency medical calls, but also those governmental 13 communications related to forestry and conservation operations, 14 highway safety and maintenance activities, and all of the other 15 operations which the modern governmental agency must conduct; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's telecommunicators daily serve the
1 public in countless ways without due recognition by the 2 beneficiaries of their services; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 4 Commonwealth designate the week of April 12 through 18, 1987, as 5 "State Telecommunicators' Week"; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That the Governor be requested to issue a 7 proclamation calling upon the people of the Commonwealth of 8 Pennsylvania to observe that week with appropriate ceremonies 9 and activities.
