AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for no-passing zones.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 3307 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
6 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
7 § 3307. No-passing zones.
8 (a) Establishment and marking.--The department and local
9 authorities may determine those portions of any highway under
10 their respective jurisdictions where overtaking and passing or
11 driving on the left side of the roadway would be especially
12 hazardous and shall by appropriate signs or markings on the
13 roadway indicate the beginning and end of such zones and when
14 the signs or markings are in place and clearly visible to an
15 ordinarily observant person every driver of a vehicle shall obey
16 the directions of the signs or markings. [Signs shall be placed
17 to indicate the beginning and end of each no-passing zone.]
1 (b) Compliance by drivers.--Where signs [and] or markings
2 are in place to define a no-passing zone as set forth in
3 subsection (a), no driver shall at any time drive on the left
4 side of the roadway within the no-passing zone or on the left
5 side of any pavement striping designed to mark a no-passing zone
6 throughout its length.
7 (c) Application of section.--This section does not apply
8 under the conditions described in section 3301(a)(2) and (5)
9 (relating to driving on right side of roadway).
10 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
