AN ACT
1 Making appropriations to the Trustees of the University of <--
2 Pennsylvania.
3 AMENDING THE ACT OF JULY 13, 1988 (P.L. , NO.18A), ENTITLED <--
4 "AN ACT MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE
5 UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA," INCREASING CERTAIN
6 APPROPRIATIONS; AND ADDING APPROPRIATIONS FOR NEW BOLTON AND
7 FOR A DAIRY CATTLE RESEARCH FACILITY.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 SECTION 1. SECTION 1(5), (6) AND (8) OF THE ACT OF JULY 13, <--
11 1988 (P.L. , NO.18A), ENTITLED "AN ACT MAKING APPROPRIATIONS
12 TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA," ITEM VETOED
13 IN PART, ARE AMENDED AND APPROPRIATIONS ARE ADDED TO READ:
14 Section 1. The following sums, or as much thereof as may be
15 necessary, are hereby appropriated to the Trustees of the
16 University of Pennsylvania for the fiscal year July 1, 1988, to
17 June 30, 1989, for the purposes and in the amounts as shown:
18 (1) For instruction, excluding Veterinary <--
19 Medicine programs and Doctor of Medicine.......... $16,209,000
1 (2) For dental clinics........................ 1,040,000
2 (3) For instruction in the Doctor of Medicine
3 program........................................... 4,478,000
4 (4) For instruction in Veterinary Medicine
5 programs only..................................... 7,800,000
6 (5) For the New Bolton Animal Center.......... 3,480,000
7 (6) For food and animal clinics and services.. 1,935,000
8 (7) For the Center for Animal Health and
9 Productivity...................................... 1,180,000
10 Section 2. Payments to the University of Pennsylvania on
11 account of the appropriations for the items provided in section
12 1 shall be made quarterly by the Secretary of Education on the
13 basis of costs during the fiscal year.
14 Section 3. The University of Pennsylvania shall provide such
15 information as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of
16 this act and in such form and manner as the Department of
17 Education shall prescribe.
18 Section 4. The University of Pennsylvania shall report its
19 revenues and expenditures and present its financial statements
20 in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and
21 procedures for educational institutions as set forth in the
22 "Higher Education Finance Manual (1975)" and the "Commonwealth
23 of Pennsylvania Budget Instructions for the State System of
24 Higher Education, State-Related Universities and Non-State-
25 Related Colleges and Universities."
26 Section 5. This act shall take effect July 1, 1988, or
27 immediately, whichever is later.
