AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 5, 1968 (P.L.140, No.78), entitled "An
2 act regulating the writing, cancellation of or refusal to
3 renew policies of automobile insurance; and imposing powers
4 and duties on the Insurance Commissioner therefor,"
5 prohibiting cancellation of household policies in certain
6 cases.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. The act of June 5, 1968 (P.L.140, No.78),
10 entitled "An act regulating the writing, cancellation of or
11 refusal to renew policies of automobile insurance; and imposing
12 powers and duties on the Insurance Commissioner therefor," is
13 amended by adding a section to read:
14 Section 4.2. Notwithstanding any provision of this act, an
15 insurer may not cancel or refuse to renew a policy issued to two
16 or more related individuals resident in the same household on
17 the basis that one of those individuals exceeded the number of
18 accidents allowable under this act regarding insurance
19 cancellation. In such circumstance, an insurer may cancel or
1 refuse to renew a policy in relation to that individual only.
2 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
