AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for notification of lienholders.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
7 § 1139. Notification of lienholders.
8 A person, who by statute or rule of law may assert or enforce
9 a lien against a motor vehicle in possession for the provision
10 of services or materials, shall notify each lienholder of that
11 motor vehicle of the fact that the motor vehicle is in his
12 possession and has been in his possession for at least 30 days
13 prior to the date of the notice. Notices to lienholders shall be
14 sent by registered mail, return receipt requested. All expenses
15 incurred in obtaining the names of the lienholders and the
16 notification of the lienholders shall be paid by the
17 lienholders.
1 Section 2. This act shall apply to all motor vehicles in
2 possession on or after the effective date of this act.
3 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
