AN ACT
1 Declaring and adopting the song "Pennsylvania," lyrics and music
2 by Joseph W. Yoder, as the State song of the Commonwealth of
3 Pennsylvania.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Official State song.
7 The song "Pennsylvania," lyrics and music by Joseph W. Yoder,
8 is hereby adopted as the State song of Pennsylvania and shall be
9 the official song for all public purposes. The lyrics of the
10 song are as follows:
11 "Pennsylvania"
12 Verse 1
13 Pennsylvania forever,
14 Wonderful Keystone State;
15 Beautiful, rugged glorious,
16 Fashioned sublime and great.
17 Verdure-clad hills and mountains,
18 Rich with abundant store;
1 Tower in grandeur silent,
2 Battlements evermore.
3 Verse 2
4 Freedom kneels at thy altars,
5 Peace is thy cornerstone;
6 Liberty guards thy ramparts,
7 Learning and culture thy throne.
8 Valley Forge bled for the nation,
9 Gettysburg rescued the slave;
10 Brotherly love the slogan,
11 Rousing the strong and brave.

13 Valleys, meadows and hillsides,
14 Waving with ripening grain;
15 Feed all the happy millions,
16 Toiling with hand or with brain.
17 Factories, mills and railroads,
18 Daily their anthem raise;
19 Crowning our land with plenty,
20 Filling our hearts with praise.

22 Thou who rulest the nations,
23 Author of liberty;
24 Keep us in sacred nearness,
25 Honor and unity.
26 Fill thou our store with abundance,
27 Guard us from famine and foe;
28 Wisdom and mercy and justice,
29 On all our rulers bestow.
