        AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, FEBRUARY 25, 1987

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, FURTHER PROVIDING FOR      <--
     3     OATHS AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS; AND providing for Statewide
     4     jurisdiction of park policemen in certain circumstances.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section SECTIONS 327 AND 8953(a)(3) of Title 42    <--
     8  of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is ARE amended to       <--
     9  read:
    10  § 327.  OATHS AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS.                                <--
    11     EACH JUDICIAL OFFICER, EACH CLERK OF COURT, AND SUCH OTHER
    12  PERSONNEL OF THE SYSTEM AND JURORS AS MAY BE DESIGNATED BY OR
    13  PURSUANT TO GENERAL RULES MAY ADMINISTER OATHS AND AFFIRMATIONS
    14  AND TAKE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. AN ATTORNEY MAY TAKE AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT
    15  PROVIDED THE FINAL INSTRUMENT IS NOTARIZED BY A NOTARY PUBLIC
    16  AND THE NAME OF THE ATTORNEY AND SUPREME COURT IDENTIFICATION
    17  NUMBER ARE AFFIXED TO THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT.
    18  § 8953.  Statewide municipal police jurisdiction.

     1     (a)  General rule.--Any duly employed municipal police
     2  officer who is within this Commonwealth, but beyond the
     3  territorial limits of his primary jurisdiction, shall have the
     4  power and authority to enforce the laws of this Commonwealth or
     5  otherwise perform the functions of that office as if enforcing
     6  those laws or performing those functions within the territorial
     7  limits of his primary jurisdiction in the following cases:
     8         * * *
     9         (3)  Where the officer has been requested to aid or
    10     assist any local, State or Federal law enforcement officer or
    11     park police officer or otherwise has probable cause to
    12     believe that the other officer is in need of aid or
    13     assistance.

    15     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
