                                     AN ACT

     1  Creating a commission to ensure the coordination of efforts to
     2     observe the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and
     3     Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6  Section 1.  Commission created.
     7     The General Assembly hereby creates the Battle of Gettysburg
     8  125th Anniversary Commission to ensure the coordination of
     9  efforts to observe the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of
    10  Gettysburg and Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
    11  Section 2.  Duties.
    12     The duties of the commission will be:
    13         (1)  To facilitate cooperative efforts between State
    14     agencies and those public and private organizations which are
    15     planning activities commemorating this anniversary.
    16         (2)  To invite the cooperation of the Congress of the
    17     United States and the legislatures of the other states.
    18         (3)  To authorize expenditures of Commonwealth funds

     1     appropriated to support the activities of the 125th
     2     Anniversary.
     3         (4)  To submit a report to the General Assembly of the
     4     activities of the commission and make recommendations
     5     concerning the commemoration of the 125th Anniversary.
     6  Section 3.  Members.
     7     The commission shall be comprised of nine citizens of this
     8  Commonwealth who shall be appointed by the Governor.
     9  Section 4.  Appropriation.
    10     The sum of $10,000, or as much thereof as may be necessary,
    11  is hereby appropriated to the Battle of Gettysburg 125th
    12  Anniversary Commission to pay the expenses of the commission and
    13  its members in carrying out the provisions of this act.
    14  Section 5.  Effective date.
    15     This act shall take effect immediately.
