AN ACT
1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for the metering of
3 electricity supplied to volunteer fire companies.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 1511. Metering of electricity ELECTRICITY supplied to <--
9 volunteer fire companies.
10 A public utility supplying electricity to volunteer fire <--
11 companies shall measure the consumption of electricity supplied
12 by the same method that electricity to residential customers is
13 measured.
14 ANY PUBLIC UTILITY COMPANY SUPPLYING ELECTRIC SERVICE SHALL, <--
15 UPON APPLICATION, PERMIT A VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY TO ELECT TO
16 HAVE ITS ELECTRIC SERVICE RENDERED PURSUANT TO A RATE SCHEDULE
17 WHICH PROVIDES EQUIVALENT CHARGES FOR SUCH SERVICE AS
1 RESIDENTIAL RATES UPON EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR A MINIMUM
2 TERM OF ONE YEAR.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
