A RESOLUTION 1 Proclaiming the week of September 21 through September 27, 1986, 2 as "Financial Independence Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Americans seek to achieve a comfortable level of 4 financial security to provide ongoing sustenance for themselves 5 and their loved ones, to secure the highest quality of education 6 for their children, and to maintain a standard of living which 7 enables them to enjoy the basic necessities of life; and 8 WHEREAS, Financial planning provides a systematic process of 9 sound techniques and principles which Americans can utilize to 10 maximize the accumulation of net personal worth and, hence, 11 create a level of financial independence; and 12 WHEREAS, The deregulation of the financial services industry 13 has created a proliferation of investment options for all 14 Americans and, therefore, a growing need for consumers to become 15 more educated and sophisticated to the alternatives available to 16 them as investors in the American economy; and 17 WHEREAS, Financial planning practitioners play a vital role
1 nationwide in assisting an ever-increasing number of Americans 2 who wish to secure their financial goals and objectives; and 3 WHEREAS, The members of the International Association for 4 Financial Planning (IAFP) and the Institute of Certified 5 Financial Planners (ICFP), along with the College for Financial 6 Planning, a recognized financial planning educational 7 institution, will join together to provide an educational 8 message to all Americans during the celebration of the first 9 "Financial Independence Week"; therefore be it 10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim the week 11 of September 21 through September 27, 1986, as "Financial 12 Independence Week" in Pennsylvania, and urge all citizens to 13 pursue financial independence through sound planning and 14 management of their individual situations.
