                                  A RESOLUTION

1 Memorializing Congress to extend the energy conservation and
2 renewable energy tax credits beyond 1985.

3 WHEREAS, Billions of State dollars are being sent out-of-
4 State to purchase expensive energy resources; and
5 WHEREAS, The Federal energy conservation and renewable energy
6 tax credits have provided an incentive for the development of

8 retaining State income and contributing to our economic
     9 development; and
10 WHEREAS, Federal energy tax incentives have supported and
11 helped to foster the growth and development of alternative
12 energy programs and energy conservation measures which, at a
13 minimal cost, currently supply the nation with approximately 28%
14 of its energy needs; and
15 WHEREAS, By further developing our nation's renewable energy
16 industry and encouraging energy conservation, we can reduce our

1 dependency on expensive foreign oil and can strengthen our
     2 energy security; and
3 WHEREAS, The Federal law granting energy conservation and
4 renewable energy tax credits is scheduled to expire on December
     5 31, 1985; therefore be it
6 RESOLVED, That the members of the House of Representatives of
7 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge Congress to repeal the

12 the President of the United States, to the presiding officers of
13 each house of Congress and to each member of Congress from
    14 Pennsylvania.
