A RESOLUTION 1 Directing the House Insurance Committee to conduct an 2 investigation into the availability and cost of liability 3 insurance in this Commonwealth. 4 WHEREAS, It is evident that the procurement of liability 5 insurance in this Commonwealth in many, if not most, fields of 6 endeavor is becoming increasingly difficult due to severely 7 limited availability; and 8 WHEREAS, The cost of such insurance that is still available 9 is increasing at an alarming rate, and in many instances, is 10 prohibitive; and 11 WHEREAS, It is imperative that affordable liability insurance 12 be made readily available to the citizens and businesses of this 13 Commonwealth to ensure continued economic growth; therefore be 14 it 15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the House 16 Insurance Committee to conduct an in-depth investigation into 17 the availability and cost of liability insurance in this
1 Commonwealth; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That the committee may hold hearings, take 3 testimony and make its investigations at such places as it deems 4 necessary in this Commonwealth. Each member of the committee 5 shall have power to administer oaths and affirmations to 6 witnesses appearing before the committee; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That the committee report its findings and its 8 recommendations for any necessary remedial legislation to the 9 House of Representatives by December 1, 1985.
