AN ACT
1 Requiring the Department of Environmental Resources and the
2 Department of Health to investigate high concentrations of
3 heavy metals in the soil in certain areas of this
4 Commonwealth; and making an appropriation.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The Department of Environmental Resources and the
8 Department of Health shall jointly investigate the problem of
9 high concentrations of heavy metals, particularly cadmium, in
10 those areas of this Commonwealth which have been identified by
11 The Pennsylvania State University as having such concentrations.
12 Section 2. The departments shall report their findings and
13 make recommendations to the General Assembly as soon as
14 possible.
15 Section 3. The sum of $250,000, or as much thereof as may be
16 necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Department of
17 Environmental Resources and the Department of Health to carry
18 out the provisions of this act.
1 Section 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
