AN ACT
1 Making appropriations to the Thomas Jefferson University,
2 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. (a) The sum of $5,008,000 $4,937,000 is hereby <--
6 appropriated to the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia,
7 Pennsylvania, for the fiscal year July 1, 1985, to June 30,
8 1986, for instruction in the Doctor of Medicine program and for
9 participation by a representative of the institution, appointed
10 by the chief executive officer thereof, as a member of the
11 Pennsylvania Academic Commission on Technological Development, a
12 commission for interinstitutional communication regarding
13 technological innovation and development and for dissemination
14 of information on such matters to the Pennsylvania business
15 community and others who may use such information for new
16 business and job development in Pennsylvania, such commission to
1 be composed of representatives of every State-owned or State-
2 related educational or scientific institution receiving General
3 Fund assistance from the Commonwealth.
4 (b) The sum of $2,039,000 $2,069,000 is hereby appropriated <--
5 to the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
6 for the fiscal year July 1, 1985, to June 30, 1986, for the
7 general maintenance of the Thomas Jefferson University,
8 including the College of Allied Health Sciences, and student
9 aid.
10 (C) THE SUM OF $1,563,000 IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED TO THOMAS <--
11 JEFFERSON UNIVERSITY, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR THE
12 CHILDREN'S HEART HOSPITAL, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR THE
13 FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1985, TO JUNE 30, 1986, IN ACCORDANCE WITH
14 PROCEDURES DEVELOPED BY THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC WELFARE. PAYMENT
15 OF THIS APPROPRIATION SHALL BE MADE BY THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC
16 WELFARE IN EQUAL QUARTERLY PAYMENTS.
17 Section 2. Payments to the Thomas Jefferson University on
18 account of the appropriations provided in section 1 shall be
19 made quarterly by the Secretary of Education on the basis of
20 costs during the fiscal year.
21 Section 3. The Thomas Jefferson University shall provide
22 such information as may be necessary to carry out the provisions
23 of this act and in such form and manner as the Department of
24 Education may prescribe.
25 Section 4. The Thomas Jefferson University shall report its
26 revenues and expenditures and present its financial statements
27 in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and
28 procedures for educational institutions as set forth in the
29 "Higher Education Finance Manual of 1975," without exception.
30 Section 5. This act shall take effect July 1, 1985, or
