                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for notice of certain penalties for
     3     participants in the alcohol highway safety program.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Sections 1548(b) and 1549(b) of Title 75 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
     8  § 1548.  Requirements for driving under influence offenders.

    10     (b)  Attendance at alcohol highway safety school.--In
    11  addition to any other requirements of the court, every person
    12  convicted of a violation of section 3731 and every person placed
    13  on Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition or other preliminary
    14  disposition as a result of a charge of a violation of section
    15  3731 shall, as a part of sentencing or as a condition of parole,
    16  probation or Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition, be required
    17  to attend and successfully complete an approved alcohol highway

     1  safety school established pursuant to section 1549 (relating to
     2  establishment of schools). All persons required to participate
     3  in this program shall be given both oral and written notice of
     4  the provisions of section 1543(b) (relating to driving while
     5  operating privilege is suspended or revoked).

     9     (b)  Alcohol highway safety schools.--Each county,
    10  multicounty judicial district or group of counties combined
    11  under one program shall, in compliance with regulations of the
    12  department and the Department of Health, establish and maintain
    13  a course of instruction on the problems of alcohol and driving.
    14  These regulations shall include, but not be limited to, a
    15  uniform curriculum for the course of instruction [and], training
    16  and certification requirements for instructors and provision for
    17  the giving of both oral and written notice of the provisions of
    18  section 1543(b) (relating to driving while operating privilege
    19  is suspended or revoked) to all program participants.
    20     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
