AN ACT
1 Amending the act of January 25, 1966 (1965 P.L.1546, No.541),
2 entitled "An act providing scholarships and providing funds
3 to secure Federal funds for qualified students of the
4 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who need financial assistance to
5 attend postsecondary institutions of higher learning, making
6 an appropriation, and providing for the administration of
7 this act," authorizing approval of two-year institutions
8 outside this Commonwealth.
9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
10 hereby enacts as follows:
11 Section 1. Section 3(2) of the act of January 25, 1966 (1965
12 P.L.1546, No.541), entitled "An act providing scholarships and
13 providing funds to secure Federal funds for qualified students
14 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who need financial
15 assistance to attend postsecondary institutions of higher
16 learning, making an appropriation, and providing for the
17 administration of this act," is amended to read:
18 Section 3. As used in this act--

20 (2) "Approved institution of higher learning." Approved
1 institution of higher learning shall mean any institution of
2 higher learning approved by the agency. The agency shall approve
3 any two-year institution of higher learning located outside this
4 Commonwealth if the institution has an instructional standard at
5 least equal to two-year institutions of higher learning located
6 within this Commonwealth which offer a similar curriculum:
7 Provided, however, That such an institution located outside this
8 Commonwealth shall be approved only for a student who resides in
9 a county within this Commonwealth which does not have a
10 community college established and operated in accordance with
11 the act of August 24, 1963 (P.L.1132, No.484), known as the
12 "Community College Act of 1963."
