                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of October 4, 1978 (P.L.883, No.170), entitled
     2     "An act relating to conflicts of interest involving certain
     3     public officials serving in State or State agencies and local
     4     political subdivision positions and prohibiting certain
     5     public employees from engaging in certain conflict of
     6     interest activities requiring certain disclosures and
     7     providing penalties," further providing for statements of
     8     financial interests.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  Section 4(b) of the act of October 4, 1978
    12  (P.L.883, No.170), referred to as the Public Official and
    13  Employee Ethics Law, is amended to read:
    14  Section 4.  Statement of financial interests required to be
    15                 filed.

    17     (b)  Each candidate for public office shall file a statement
    18  of financial interests for the preceding calendar year with the
    19  commission prior to filing a petition to appear on the ballot
    20  for election as a public official. A petition to appear on the


     1  ballot shall not be accepted by an election official unless the
     2  petition includes an affidavit that the candidate has filed the
     3  required statement of financial interests with the commission.
     4  If any candidate shall willfully or knowingly file a false
     5  statement with the commission, the commission shall cause such
     6  candidate's name to be removed from the ballot.

     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
