A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing and promoting National Family Week. 2 WHEREAS, For a number of years, our government has recognized 3 the week of Thanksgiving as National Family Week; and 4 WHEREAS, Again this year, President Reagan has proclaimed the 5 week of November 18 through November 24 as National Family Week; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, We all recognize that our formative years with our 8 families form the molds for our later lives and it is our family 9 ties throughout our lives which give us the inner strength 10 necessary to meet the many challenges we face from day to day 11 and to stand by the principles which we have learned, through 12 our families, to be morally right; and 13 WHEREAS, As stated by President Reagan, "It is the family 14 which gives strength to the fabric of our Nation"; and 15 WHEREAS, There are many forces today which promote anti- 16 family sentiment and which, if permitted to prevail, would lead 17 toward the disintegration of the American family; and
1 WHEREAS, Any weakening of the family unit will ultimately 2 result in a weakening of our Nation; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives officially 4 recognize National Family Week and the importance and value of 5 the family unit to each of us individually and to all of us 6 collectively as a Nation; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge its members 8 and all citizens of this Commonwealth to join in the observance 9 of National Family Week and do all within their power, not only 10 this week but throughout the year, to strengthen the American 11 family.
