A RESOLUTION 1 Establishing a select committee to investigate compliance and 2 the effectiveness of procedures used to determine compliance 3 with the act of March 3, 1978 (P.L.6, No.3), known as the 4 Steel Products Procurement Act. 5 WHEREAS, The act of March 3, 1978 (P.L.6, No.3), known as the 6 Steel Products Procurement Act, was enacted as an exercise of 7 the police powers of the Commonwealth for the protection of the 8 health, safety and general welfare of the people of the 9 Commonwealth; and 10 WHEREAS, Numerous questions have arisen regarding compliance 11 with the aforesaid act and the procedures used by public 12 agencies to determine compliance with that act; and 13 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is desirous of 14 reviewing the procedures used by public agencies to determine 15 compliance with the aforesaid act; and 16 WHEREAS, It is the desire of the House of Representatives to 17 investigate compliance with the aforesaid act; therefore be it 18 RESOLVED, That the Speaker of the House of Representatives
1 appoint a select committee to investigate compliance with the 2 Steel Products Procurement Act, five members to be from the 3 majority party and four members to be from the minority party; 4 and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That in carrying out it's duties the select 6 committee may exercise all powers permitted to be exercised by 7 standing committees as provided for in the Rules of the House of 8 Representatives; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That the select committee is specifically 10 authorized and empowered to conduct hearings at any place in the 11 Commonwealth to investigate any matter provided for in this 12 resolution. Such select committee is empowered to issue 13 subpoenas under the hand and seal of the chairman thereof 14 commanding any person to appear before it and answer questions 15 touching matters properly being inquired into by the select 16 committee and produce such books, papers, records, accounts, 17 reports and documents as the select committee deems necessary. 18 Each member of the select committee shall have power to 19 administer oaths and affirmations to witnesses appearing before 20 the select committee; and be it further 21 RESOLVED, That the select committee make a report of its 22 investigation to the House of Representatives by the end of the 23 current session.
