AN ACT
1 Requiring the Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police to
2 hire and promote persons without regard to race, religion,
3 sexual gender or imposed "quota systems."
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Nondiscrimination in hiring by Pennsylvania State
7 Police.
8 (a) General rule.--Notwithstanding any provision of any law
9 decree or order to the contrary, the Commissioner of the
10 Pennsylvania State Police shall hire, employ and promote persons
11 without regard to race, religion, sexual gender or any type of
12 "quota system" which grants preferences in hiring and promotions
13 to members of certain minority groups.
14 (b) Persons to be selected on basis of merit and
15 qualifications.--All persons hired or promoted by the
16 Pennsylvania State Police after the effective date of this act
17 shall be selected solely on the basis of merit and
1 qualifications.
2 Section 2. Veterans' preference.
3 Nothing in this act shall prohibit the granting of
4 preferences pursuant to laws regarding veterans of the armed
5 forces of the United States, providing that veterans' preference
6 is granted without regard to the racial background of the
7 veteran.
8 Section 3. Effective date.
9 This act shall take effect immediately.
