                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for meetings of
     6     intermediate unit boards of directors.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 910-A(b) of the act of March 10, 1949
    10  (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
    11  amended April 6, 1980 (P.L.86, No.30), is amended to read:
    12     Section 910-A.  Intermediate Unit Board of Directors.--* * *
    13     (b)  Except for the initial election, directors shall be
    14  elected annually between February 1 and June 30 by convention or
    15  by mail ballot of the school directors of the school districts
    16  comprising an intermediate unit as follows: five every third
    17  year, four each other year. An intermediate unit board choosing
    18  to elect members by mail ballot shall notify the secretary of


     1  the board of directors of each school district comprising the
     2  intermediate unit annually prior to January 1. The act of July
     3  19, 1974 (P.L.486, No.175), referred to as the Public Agency
     4  Open Meeting Law shall not apply to the election of members by
     5  mail ballot. [Intermediate unit boards of directors shall
     6  organize annually in July.] Each intermediate unit board of
     7  directors may organize annually in June provided the annual
     8  election of directors has taken place, in all other cases such
     9  boards shall organize in July.

    11     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1985.
