                                     AN ACT

     1  Making an appropriation to the Trustees of the University of
     2     Pittsburgh for the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  The sum of $6,136,000 is hereby appropriated to
     6  the Trustees of the University of Pittsburgh for the fiscal year
     7  July 1, 1984 to June 30, 1985, for the general maintenance and
     8  operation of the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic by the
     9  University of Pittsburgh and the purchase of such apparatus and
    10  equipment as the trustees may deem necessary for the best
    11  interest of the purposes of the institute and clinic, which
    12  purposes shall include the teaching of personnel for the staffs
    13  of the various mental institutions of the Commonwealth and the
    14  conduct of research into the treatment, prevention and cause of
    15  the various types of nervous disorders and mental diseases in
    16  compliance with the laws, providing for the lease of the Western
    17  Psychiatric Institute and Clinic to the University of


     1  Pittsburgh. In addition to the above amount all income and all
     2  moneys collected at the institute and paid into the General Fund
     3  of the State Treasury under existing laws are hereby
     4  appropriated out of the General Fund to the institute for the
     5  same purposes, the institute to receive from such appropriation
     6  the exact amount which was collected at said institute during
     7  the said fiscal period.
     8     Section 2.  Payments to the institute on account of the
     9  appropriation provided in section 1 shall be made by the
    10  Secretary of Public Welfare in equal quarterly payments.
    11     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1984 or, if
    12  enacted subsequent to that date, then immediately.
