AN ACT
1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, prohibiting public utilities from
3 engaging in certain activities.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 105. Prohibition against business activities other than
9 public utility service.
10 (a) General rule.--Any person or corporation now or
11 hereafter operating as a public utility or any subsidiary or
12 affiliated company is prohibited from commencing business
13 activities other than the rendition of public utility service
14 after the effective date of this section.
15 (b) Definition.--As used in this section the term
16 "affiliated company" means any corporation or person 5% or more
17 of whose voting securities are owned by a public utility or by a
18 person or corporation owning 5% or more of the voting securities
1 of the public utility or by a person or corporation in any chain
2 of successive ownership of 5% or more of State voting
3 securities.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
