        SENATOR CORMAN, LOCAL GOVERNMENT, IN SENATE, AS AMENDED,
           NOVEMBER 19, 1984

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of November 1, 1971 (P.L.495, No.113), entitled
     2     "An act providing for the compensation of county officers in
     3     counties of the second through eighth classes, for the
     4     disposition of fees, for filing of bonds in certain cases and
     5     for duties of certain officers," further providing for salary
     6     determinations.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 10.1(e) of the act of November 1, 1971
    10  (P.L.495, No.113), entitled "An act providing for the
    11  compensation of county officers in counties of the second
    12  through eighth classes, for the disposition of fees, for filing
    13  of bonds in certain cases and for duties of certain officers,"
    14  reenacted and amended October 7, 1976 (P.L.1101, No.223) and
    15  added November 1, 1979 (P.L.246, No.82), is amended to read:
    16     Section 10.1.  * * *
    17     (e)  Any salary increase shall be on a percentage basis and
    18  applied equally to all county officials except that the county

     1  commissioners may provide a greater percentage salary increase
     2  to the lowest paid county official, other than the jury
     3  commissioners OR COUNTY AUDITOR, until his salary is equal to     <--
     4  the other county officials except the jury commissioners, COUNTY  <--
     5  AUDITORS, district attorneys and county commissioners.
     6     Section 2.  This act shall be applicable to each such officer
     7  when permitted by the Constitution of Pennsylvania.
     8     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
