        AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, DECEMBER 13, 1983

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 24, 1931 (P.L.1206, No.331), entitled
     2     "An act concerning townships of the first class; amending,
     3     revising, consolidating, and changing the law relating
     4     thereto," changing the rates for per diem for attendance of
     5     appointed township officers and employees at conferences,
     6     institutes and schools.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 624 of the act of June 24, 1931
    10  (P.L.1206, No.331), known as The First Class Township Code,
    11  reenacted and amended May 27, 1949 (P.L.1955, No.569) and
    12  amended February 26, 1982 (P.L.93, No.35), is amended to read:
    13     Section 624.  Conferences, Institutes and Schools.--The
    14  actual expenses for attending the conferences, institutes and
    15  schools OF ELECTED OR APPOINTED TOWNSHIP OFFICERS AND EMPLOYES    <--
    16  which shall be limited to [the registration fee, mileage [and     <--
    17  per diem up to sixty dollars ($60) per day] going to and          <--
    18  returning from such meetings plus all other actual expenses not
    19  to exceed ninety dollars ($90) per day[, of elected or appointed  <--

     1  township officers and employes], PLUS THE REGISTRATION FEE AND    <--
     2  MILEAGE GOING TO AND RETURNING FROM SUCH MEETINGS may be paid by
     3  the township when authorized by the board of township
     4  commissioners to attend conferences, institutes and schools in
     5  order to discuss and resolve the various questions arising in
     6  the discharge of the duties and functions of the respective
     7  officers and employes, and to provide uniform, efficient and
     8  economical methods of administering their township duties.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
