AN ACT
1 Creating the Pennsylvania Award of Honor; and providing for its
2 awarding by the Governor.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Short title.
6 This act shall be known and may be cited as the Award of
7 Honor Act.
8 Section 2. Award created.
9 There is hereby created the Pennsylvania Award of Honor which
10 shall be the highest award of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
11 The Governor is authorized to confer the award on any living
12 individual who has given distinguished, meritorious and
13 extraordinary service to and for the Commonwealth of
14 Pennsylvania and its citizens. The Award of Honor shall be
15 symbolic of the high esteem and gratitude the people of
16 Pennsylvania extend toward those who have given unselfishly of
17 themselves in the public service.
1 Section 3. Effective date.
2 This act shall take effect immediately.
