AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to the Attorney General for the payment
2 of certain moral claims against the Commonwealth.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The sum of $450,000, or as much thereof as may be
6 necessary, is hereby specifically appropriated to the Attorney
7 General for the payment of moral claims against the Commonwealth
8 arising from the unconscionable loss of liberty resulting from
9 detention for six years in the State Correctional Institution at
10 Graterford as a result of a person's conviction based on
11 erroneous and improper evidence at a trial for the alleged
12 commission of a crime and whose conviction was subsequently
13 overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
14 Section 2. Payment from said appropriation shall be made by
15 requisition of the Attorney General, upon proof of such claim to
16 the satisfaction of the Attorney General and the State
17 Treasurer.
1 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
