AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for dividing
3 the thirty-ninth judicial district into two separate judicial
4 districts.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Sections 901 and 911 of Title 42 of the
8 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
9 § 901. Judicial districts.
10 (a) General rule.--The Commonwealth is divided into [60] 61
11 judicial districts, numbered and composed as follows:
12 First.--City and County of Philadelphia.
13 Second.--County of Lancaster.
14 Third.--County of Northampton.
15 Fourth.--County of Tioga.
16 Fifth.--County of Allegheny.
17 Sixth.--County of Erie.
18 Seventh.--County of Bucks.

1 of the court to the amendment pursuant to section 11 of Article 2 V of the Constitution of Pennsylvania. 3 § 911. 1 Fifty-third 2 2 Fifty-fourth 1 3 Fifty-fifth 1 4 Fifty-sixth 1 5 Fifty-seventh 1 6 Fifty-eighth 1 7 Fifty-ninth 1 8 Sixtieth 1 9 Sixty-first 1 10 (b) Single county districts.--In single county judicial 11 districts the court of common pleas of the district shall be 12 known as the "Court of Common Pleas of (the respective) County." 13 (c) Multicounty districts.--In multicounty judicial 14 districts the court of common pleas of the district shall be 15 known as the "Court of Common Pleas of the (respective) Judicial 16 District." There shall be a separate branch of the court in each 17 county comprising the judicial district. 18 Section 2. The new judgeship created by this act shall be 19 deemed a vacancy and shall be filled pursuant to 42 Pa.C.S. § 20 3132 (relating to vacancies in office). 21 Section 3. This act shall take effect 30 days after the 22 advice and consent of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is given 23 by order of the court pursuant to section 11 of Article V of the 24 Constitution of Pennsylvania.
