        AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
           NOVEMBER 15, 1983

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 19, 1964 (P.L.7, No.1), entitled "An
     2     act imposing a road tax upon certain motor carriers,
     3     providing for the collection and administration thereof,
     4     establishing penalties, and making an appropriation to the
     5     Motor License Fund," further providing for exempt vehicles.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 24 of the act of June 19, 1964 (P.L.7,
     9  No.1), known as the Motor Carriers Road Tax Act, amended June
    10  25, 1982 (P.L.653, No.185), is amended to read:
    11     Section 24.  Exempt Vehicles; Carriers.--Nothing in this act
    12  shall apply to any vehicle operated by or on behalf of any
    13  department, board, bureau or commission of this State, or any
    14  political subdivision thereof, or any quasi-governmental
    15  authority of which this State is a participating member, or any
    16  agency of the Federal government or the District of Columbia, or
    17  of any state or any political subdivision thereof which grants
    18  similar exemption to publicly owned vehicles registered in this


     1  State. Nor shall the provisions of this act apply to any school
     2  bus operated by, for, or on behalf of this State, any political
     3  subdivision thereof, or any private or privately operated
     4  school. The provisions of this act shall not apply to those
     5  motor buses operating under the provisions of the act of August
     6  1, 1963 (P.L.476, No.249), entitled "An act providing for the
     7  taxation of motor fuels consumed by interstate buses upon a
     8  system uniform among jurisdictions enacting the same
     9  provisions." The provisions of this act shall not apply to a
    10  truck, truck tractor or combination used solely for agricultural
    11  or farming purposes, TO A MAXIMUM OF SIX TRUCKS, TRUCK TRACTORS   <--
    12  OR COMBINATIONS, which carry products produced by the owner,
    13  owned and operated by a nonresident in full compliance with the
    14  registration requirements of the place of residence of the
    15  owner.
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1983 or if
    17  enacted subsequent to that date, then immediately.
