AN ACT
1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for customer
3 notifications and estimates of service charges.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 1510. Service information.
9 Any public utility as defined in paragraph (1)(i), (ii), (vi)
10 or (vii) of the definition of "public utility" in section 102
11 (relating to definitions) shall be required to orally notify
12 their customers of the total estimated cost of performing any
13 requested service when the cost of the service is over $25 and,
14 if requested prior to the furnishing of the service, present to
15 the customer in writing, cost free if no detailed breakdown of
16 the service cost is furnished in the public utility bill, a
17 detailed breakdown of the total service costs to be paid by the
18 customer.
1 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
