AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation to the Trustees of the Jefferson Medical
2 College and Hospital of Philadelphia for a comprehensive
3 program relating to Tay-Sachs disease.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. The sum of $50,000 is hereby specifically
7 appropriated to the Trustees of the Jefferson Medical College
8 and Hospital of Philadelphia for the fiscal year July 1, 1982 to
9 June 30, 1983 for a comprehensive program relating to persons
10 with Tay-Sachs disease.
11 Section 2. Payment to the Jefferson Medical College and
12 Hospital of Philadelphia on account of the appropriation
13 relating to Tay-Sachs disease as provided for in section 1,
14 shall be conditioned upon a program which shall include the
15 detection of Tay-Sachs disease in the community, counselling of
16 individuals and families, education of the public institution,
17 coordination of research into the treatment for Tay-Sachs
18 disease and the expansion of genetic diagnostic services and
1 treatment of persons with the disease.
2 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 1982 or if
3 enacted subsequent to that date, then immediately.
