AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, authorizing a volunteer firefighter registration
3 plate.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 75, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707,
7 No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is
8 amended by adding a section to read:
9 § 1345. Volunteer firefighter plate.
10 On the application of an active volunteer firefighter whose
11 active status is certified to by the fire chief, assistant fire
12 chief or acting fire chief of the volunteer fire company of the
13 active volunteer firefighter, the department shall issue a
14 special registration plate designating the vehicle as belonging
15 to an active volunteer firefighter. The registration plate shall
16 have a white background, shall have red numbers or letters as
17 the department may determine and shall have the words "volunteer
18 firefighter" in at least ten-point bold type inscribed in red at
1 the bottom. The registration plate shall also include the
2 insignia of a Maltese Cross with the seal of the Commonwealth of
3 Pennsylvania inside of the cross. The special registration plate
4 may be used only on one passenger vehicle or one other vehicle
5 with a registered gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds.
6 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
