           DUFFY, LEVIN, MADIGAN, SIRIANNI, GRIECO, CIMINI, STUBAN,

                     In the House of Representatives, September 29, 1982

     1     WHEREAS, On September 20, 1982, the first burials took place
     2  at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery; and
     3     WHEREAS, The Annville area cemetery will be one of the
     4  Nation's ten largest regional cemeteries and when fully
     5  developed will be the final resting place for 360,000 veterans
     6  and eligible dependents; and
     7     WHEREAS, It was recently disclosed that veterans would not
     8  receive military funerals at the Fort Indiantown Gap National
     9  Cemetery unless the next-of-kin could furnish body bearers,
    10  firing squad members and a bugler as well as a chaplain;
    11  therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    13  of Pennsylvania memorialize the President of the United States
    14  and the United States Congress to introduce and pass legislation


     1  which would require every National Cemetery to have on site
     2  sufficient military personnel to serve as body bearers, firing
     3  squad members, buglers, as well as chaplains to take part in
     4  burial services; and be it further
     5     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     6  the President of the United States, the President of the United
     7  States Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and
     8  each Senator and Representative from Pennsylvania in the United
     9  States Congress.
