                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for adjustment of records after certain
     3     suspensions.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 1533 of Title 75, act of November 25,
     7  1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes, is amended to read:
     9  § 1533.  Suspension of operating privilege for failure to
    10           respond to citation.
    11     (a)  General rule.--The department shall suspend the
    12  operating privilege of any person who has failed to respond to a
    13  citation to appear before a court of competent jurisdiction of
    14  this Commonwealth or of any state for violation of this title,
    15  other than parking, upon being duly notified in accordance with
    16  general rules. There shall be 15 days to respond to such

     1  notification before suspension is imposed. The suspension shall
     2  be for an indefinite period until such person shall respond and
     3  pay any fines and penalties imposed. Such suspension shall be in
     4  addition to the requirement of withholding renewal or
     5  reinstatement of a violator's driver's license as prescribed in
     6  section 1503(c) (relating to persons ineligible for licensing).
     7     (b)  Correction of record.--If any person who had his
     8  operating privilege suspended pursuant to subsection (a) was
     9  later found not guilty of the offense for which the citation was
    10  issued, the department shall remove any record of suspension
    11  relating to that incident.
    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
