AN ACT 1 Amending the act of July 9, 1981 (P.L.208, No.66), entitled "An 2 act creating the Public Employee Retirement Study Commission 3 to make a continuing study of all public employee retirement 4 and pension systems; and making an appropriation," adding to 5 the membership of the Municipal Pension Advisory Committee; <-- 6 CREATING A MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE PENSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND 7 EXTENDING THE APPROPRIATION. 8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9 hereby enacts as follows: 10 Section 1. Section 8 SECTIONS 8 AND 10, act of July 9, 1981 <-- 11 (P.L.208, No.66), known as the "Public Employee Retirement Study 12 Commission Act," is ARE amended to read: <-- 13 Section 8. Municipal Pension Advisory [Committee] COMMITTEES. <-- 14 (A) MUNICIPAL PENSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE.--The commission <-- 15 shall appoint a Municipal Pension Advisory Committee composed of 16 one municipal official or employee nominated by each of the 17 following municipal associations: the Pennsylvania League of 18 Cities; the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs; the 19 Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors; the
1 Pennsylvania State Association of Township Commissioners; the 2 Pennsylvania State Association of County Commissioners; [and] <-- 3 the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association. the <-- 4 (B) MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE PENSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE.--THE <-- 5 COMMISSION SHALL APPOINT AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE REPRESENTING 6 MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES NOMINATED BY EACH OF THE FOLLOWING 7 ASSOCIATIONS: THE Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association; the 8 Pennsylvania State Firefighters Association; THE PENNSYLVANIA <-- 9 STATE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION; THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, 10 COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES and the Pennsylvania Fraternal 11 Order of Police. 12 (C) ORGANIZATION OF COMMITTEES.--Members of the advisory <-- 13 [committee] COMMITTEES may not be members of the commission. The <-- 14 [committee] COMMITTEES shall organize by electing [its] THEIR <-- 15 own officers and by establishing rules of procedure. The 16 advisory [committee] COMMITTEES shall meet with the commission <-- 17 at stated times fixed by the commission, but not less than once 18 a year, at which time the activities of the commission will be 19 discussed and the [committee] COMMITTEES may present information <-- 20 and make recommendations. The advisory [committee] COMMITTEES <-- 21 may meet at such other times as [it] THEY may determine and may <-- 22 forward information and recommendations to the commission. 23 Committee members shall be reimbursed only for actual expenses 24 incurred in connection with their official duties. 25 SECTION 10. APPROPRIATION. <-- 26 THE SUM OF $200,000 IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FOR THE FISCAL 27 YEAR 1981-1982 TO THE COMMISSION FOR THE PAYMENT OF ITS 28 EXPENSES. THIS APPROPRIATION SHALL BE A CONTINUING APPROPRIATION 29 AND SHALL LAPSE ON JUNE 30, 1983. 30 Section 2. This EXCEPT FOR THE PROVISION OF SECTION 1 WHICH <-- 19810H2046B3435 - 2 -
