AN ACT
1 Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the duties of
3 the State director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management
4 Agency.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Subsection (e) of section 7312 of Title 35, act
8 of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
9 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is amended to read:
10 § 7312. Organization.
11 This agency shall consist of and be organized substantially
12 as follows:

14 (e) State director.--To supervise the work and activities
15 comprising the State Civil Defense and Disaster Program, the
16 council shall employ an individual to act, on a full-time basis,
17 as director of the agency. The director shall serve at the
18 pleasure of the council, shall perform all such fiscal,
1 planning, administrative, operational and other duties as may be
2 assigned to him by the council and shall act as the chairman's
3 principal assistant in civil defense and disaster matters. The
4 director is also the State coordinating officer responsible to
5 coordinate and supervise the Commonwealth and local disaster
6 response effort following a presidential declaration of an
7 emergency or a major disaster. The director shall also serve as
8 the principal advisor to the Governor on all civil and emergency
9 disaster matters.
