In the House of Representatives, September 22, 1980 1 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is both proud and 2 privileged to join the other states of the Union in the 3 recognition of the week of October 5 through 11 as National 4-H 4 Week; and 5 WHEREAS, In Pennsylvania the 4-H is an educational program of 6 the Cooperative Extension Service of the Pennsylvania State 7 University open to all youth 8 through 19 years of age and has 8 the primary goal of assisting young people to become well 9 adjusted, contributing members of society; and 10 WHEREAS, 4-H provides youngsters with opportunities to 11 acquire practical knowledge and skills, develop leadership and 12 become responsible citizens; and 13 WHEREAS, Over 156,000 young people in every county of the 14 Commonwealth were reached through the 4-H program last year with 15 over 13,200 volunteers, adults and teens assisting in the 16 program; and 17 WHEREAS, The young people of the Commonwealth are one of its
1 most valuable resources and their development is of utmost 2 importance to all citizens; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend 4 congratulations to the numerous 4-H clubs located within the 5 Commonwealth and wishes them continuous success in the future.
