In the House of Representatives, June 24, 1980
1 RESOLVED, That Rule 64 of the Rules of the House of
2 Representatives be amended to read:
3 RULE 64
4 Members Required to be Present and Vote
5 Every member shall be present within the Hall of the House
6 during its sittings, unless excused by the House or unavoidably
7 prevented, and shall vote for or against each question put,
8 unless he has a direct personal or pecuniary interest in the
9 determination of the question, or unless he is excused by the
10 House.
11 No member shall be permitted to vote and have his vote
12 recorded on the roll unless he is present in the Hall of the
13 House during the roll call vote and his name has been recorded
14 on the master roll call. The master roll call shall be taken by
15 voice vote of each member within thirty minutes of the
1 commencement of the day's session. Upon ascertaining each
2 member's individual presence, such member's electric roll call
3 switch shall be activated. If a member who was not present for
4 the master roll desires to have his name added thereto and have
5 his switch activated, he shall make such request personally to
6 the Speaker.
7 The Legislative Journal shall show the result of such roll
8 call by yeas and nays and those absent and not voting.
