PRINTER'S NO. 2862

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF PENNSYLVANIA

HOUSE RESOLUTION

No. 176 Session of 1980

INTRODUCED BY STREET, RICHARDSON, WHITE, OLIVER AND BARBER,
           FEBRUARY 5, 1980

REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, FEBRUARY 5, 1980

In the House of Representatives, February 5, 1980

1 WHEREAS, The Department of Public Welfare has, by regulation,
2 placed a limit on medical assistance reimbursement for methadone
     3 clinic visits; and
4 WHEREAS, Several members of the House of Representatives have
5 been notified by members of the public that implementation of
6 the regulation limiting payment for methadone clinic visits
7 poses a severe and immediate threat to the public health, safety
8 and welfare because of the threat of an increased illicit market
9 for methadone when legal sources are curtailed; therefore be it
10 RESOLVED, That in view of the aforementioned threat, the
11 House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
12 strongly urges the Department of Public Welfare to cease
13 implementation of the regulation until the ramifications of the
    14 problem are thoroughly studied.
