In the House of Representatives, June 11, 1979 1 WHEREAS, Handicapped persons are unable to perform many tasks 2 which persons who are sound in body can perform without effort; 3 and 4 WHEREAS, Handicapped persons suffer many hardships which 5 cannot be appreciated by persons who suffer no handicap; and 6 WHEREAS, Some barriers which traditionally confronted 7 handicapped persons have been removed by recently enacted laws 8 and by efforts of private groups and individuals; and 9 WHEREAS, Many barriers still face the handicapped; and 10 WHEREAS, Public and private efforts to improve the quality of 11 life of the handicapped must not diminish; and 12 WHEREAS, A time should be set aside to reflect on the plight 13 of the handicapped and to express appreciation to the 14 handicapped for the contribution they make to society; therefore 15 be it 16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognizes July 1 17 through July 7, 1979 as "Handicapped Awareness Week" and calls
1 upon the Governor to proclaim such week as "Handicapped 2 Awareness Week"; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to 4 Governor Dick Thornburgh. F7L66WMB/19790H0096R1712 - 2 -
