In the House of Representatives, May 23, 1979 1 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was enjoined by the 2 United States Federal District Court from terminating a special 3 food service program for women, infants and children for lack of 4 funds to pay supplies; and 5 WHEREAS, The General Assembly in the act of July 1, 1978 6 (No.56A) known as the "Federal Augmentation Appropriation Act of 7 1978," appropriated to the Department of Health the sum of 8 $16,031,000 for funding this program; and 9 WHEREAS, The financial management of the special food service 10 program by the Department of Health should be investigated to 11 determine why the shortage in funding existed; now therefore be 12 it 13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives directs its 14 standing committee on Health and Welfare to fully investigate 15 the management of the Department of Health of the special food 16 service program for women, infants and children and to report 17 its finding to the House of Representatives as soon as possible.
