AN ACT
1 Amending the act of May 27, 1953 (P.L.244, No.34), entitled "An
2 act relating to and regulating the contracts of incorporated
3 towns and providing penalties," providing for the public
4 inspection of contracts.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The act of May 27, 1953 (P.L.244, No.34),
8 entitled "An act relating to and regulating the contracts of
9 incorporated towns and providing penalties," is amended by
10 adding a section to read:
11 Section 9.1. Public Inspection of Contracts.--(a) A current
12 list which accurately summarizes the purpose and terms of every
13 contract or group of contracts entered into by the town or any
14 agency thereof with any person, firm, corporation or association
15 pursuant to this act shall be made available for public
16 inspection during regular business hours by the town office
17 responsible for keeping copies of such contracts. This list
18 shall be updated within ten days of the execution of any
1 contract by the town. A copy of any contract shall be given to
2 any person requesting same. The town may charge a fee for copies
3 of contracts, not to exceed the actual cost of copying.
4 (b) Copies of contracts entered into by the town in excess
5 of five thousand dollars shall be filed with the Auditor General
6 within thirty days of execution.
7 (c) For the purposes of this section the term "contract"
8 shall include contracts of employment as well as contracts for
9 goods or services.
10 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days and shall
11 apply to contracts executed on and after that date.
