                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," providing for the public inspection
     6     of contracts.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
    10  as the "Public School Code of 1949," is amended by adding a
    11  section to read:
    12     Section 761.  Public Inspection of Contracts.--(a)  A current
    13  list which accurately summarizes the purpose and terms of every
    14  contract or group of contracts entered into by a school district
    15  or any agency thereof with any person, firm, corporation or
    16  association pursuant to this act shall be made available for
    17  public inspection during regular business hours by the district
    18  office responsible for keeping copies of such contracts. This
    19  list shall be updated within ten days of the execution of any


     1  contract by the district. A copy of any contract shall be given
     2  to any person requesting same. The district may charge a fee for
     3  copies of contracts, not to exceed the actual cost of copying.
     4     (b)  Copies of contracts entered into by a school district in
     5  excess of five thousand dollars ($5,000) shall be filed with the
     6  Auditor General within thirty (30) days of execution.
     7     (c)  For the purposes of this section the term "contract"
     8  shall include contracts of employment as well as contracts for
     9  goods or services.
    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days and shall
    11  apply to contracts executed on and after that date.
