                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of November 24, 1976 (P.L.1182, No.262),
     2     entitled "An act relating to the dispensing and sale of
     3     hearing aids, providing for the registration and regulation
     4     of hearing aid fitters and dealers, making certain acts
     5     illegal, prescribing penalties and making an appropriation,"
     6     increasing the size of the Advisory Council.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 201, act of November 24, 1976 (P.L.1182,
    10  No.262), known as the "Hearing Aid Sales Registration Law," is
    11  amended to read:
    12     Section 201.  Advisory Council.--There is hereby created an
    13  Advisory Council, which shall advise the department in
    14  administering this act. The council shall consist of [eight] ten
    15  individuals appointed by the Governor, three of whom shall be
    16  hearing aid fitters registered under this act with at least
    17  three years experience in the Commonwealth, one of whom shall be
    18  a hearing aid dealer registered under this act with at least
    19  three years experience in the Commonwealth. The remaining [four]


     1  six shall consist of a physician certified by the American Board
     2  of Otolaryngology specializing in disorders of the ear, [an
     3  audiologist, and] two audiologists, and three public members who
     4  shall represent the interest of the general public.
     5     The terms of office of members of the council shall be three
     6  years or until their successors are qualified. Any vacancy of
     7  the council shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired
     8  term, in the same manner as the original appointments.
     9     Members of the council shall receive no compensation, but
    10  shall be entitled to reimbursement for actual expenses incurred
    11  in the performance of duties under this act.
    12     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
