AN ACT 1 Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, permitting vestees to purchase credit for 3 nonintervening military service. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 8304 and subsection (a) 7 of section 8324 of Title 24, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, 8 No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, are 9 amended to read: 10 § 8304. Creditable nonschool service. 11 (a) Eligibility.--An active member or a multiple service 12 member who is an active member of the State Employees' 13 Retirement System or a vestee in the case of nonintervening 14 military service shall be eligible to receive Class T-C service 15 credit for creditable nonschool service as set forth in 16 subsection (b) provided that he is not entitled to receive, 17 eligible to receive now or in the future, or is receiving 18 retirement benefits for such service under a retirement system
1 administered and wholly or partially paid for by any other
2 governmental agency or by any private employer, or a retirement
3 program approved by the employer in accordance with section
4 8301(a)(1) (relating to mandatory and optional membership), and
5 further provided that such service is certified by the previous
6 employer and the manner of payment of the amount due is agreed
7 upon by the member, the employer, and the board.

9 § 8324. Contributions for purchase of credit for creditable
10 nonschool service.
11 (a) Source of contributions.--The total contributions to
12 purchase credit as a member of Class T-C for creditable
13 nonschool service of an active member or an eligible State
14 employee shall be paid either by the member, the vestee, the
15 member's previous employer, the Commonwealth, or a combination
16 thereof, as provided by law.
