                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, by further providing for parking regulations
     3     relating to handicapped persons and disabled veterans, and
     4     providing a penalty.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Subsection (d) of section 3354 of Title 75, act
     8  of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the
     9  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is amended to read:
    10  § 3354.  Additional parking regulations.

    12     (d)  Handicapped persons and disabled veterans.--
    13         (1)  When a motor vehicle bearing registration plates
    14     issued to handicapped persons or disabled veterans as
    15     prescribed in this title is being operated by or for the
    16     transportation of the handicapped person or disabled veteran,
    17     the driver shall be relieved of any liability for parking for
    18     a period of 60 minutes in excess of the legal parking period


     1     permitted by local authorities except where local ordinances
     2     or police regulations provide for the accommodation of heavy
     3     traffic during morning, afternoon or evening hours.
     4         (2)  At the request of any handicapped person or disabled
     5     veteran, local authorities may erect on the highway as close
     6     as possible to their place of residence a sign or signs
     7     indicating that that place is reserved for a handicapped
     8     person or disabled veteran, that no parking is allowed there
     9     by others, and that any unauthorized person parking there
    10     shall be subject to a fine.
    11         (3)  Persons may erect on their private property a sign
    12     or signs indicating that that place is reserved for
    13     handicapped persons or disabled veterans, that no parking is
    14     allowed there by others, and that any unauthorized person
    15     parking there shall be subject to a fine.

    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
