AN ACT 1 Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania 2 Consolidated Statutes, empowering the Department of Military 3 Affairs to establish an office of veterans affairs in each 4 county and making certain repeals. 5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 6 hereby enacts as follows: 7 Section 1. Title 51, act of November 25, 1970 (P.L.707, 8 No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, is 9 amended by adding a section to read: 10 § 705. Office of veterans affairs. 11 The department shall establish an office of veterans affairs 12 in each county of the Commonwealth and shall appoint and pay the 13 compensation of a director and necessary staff for each office. 14 The duties of the directors of veterans affairs shall be the 15 same as provided by law on the effective date of this amendatory 16 act. 17 Section 2. The following acts are repealed insofar as they 18 are inconsistent herewith:
1 The act of June 11, 1935 (P.L.326, No.149), entitled "An act 2 relating to counties of the first class; defining deceased 3 service persons; providing for contributions by the county to 4 the funeral expenses for such persons and their widows; 5 providing for the erection and care of markers, headstones, and 6 flags, and for the compilation of war records." 7 The act of July 28, 1953 (P.L.723, No.230), known as the 8 "Second Class County Code." 9 The act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), known as "The 10 County Code." 11 Section 3.
