                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for contributions by the
     3     Commonwealth.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 8326 of Title 24, act of November 25,
     7  1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes, is amended to read:
     9  § 8326.  Contributions by the Commonwealth.
    10     (a)  Contributions on behalf of active members.--The
    11  Commonwealth shall make contributions into the fund on behalf of
    12  all active members in an amount equal to one-half the amount
    13  certified by the board as necessary to provide, together with
    14  the members' contributions, annuity reserves on account of
    15  prospective annuities as provided in this part in accordance
    16  with section 8328(a), (b) and (c) (relating to actuarial cost
    17  method). In case a school employee has elected membership in a
    18  retirement program approved by the employer, the Commonwealth

     1  shall contribute to such program on account of his membership an
     2  amount no greater than the amount it would have contributed had
     3  the employee been a member of the Public School Employees'
     4  Retirement System.
     5     (b)  Contributions on behalf of annuitants.--The Commonwealth
     6  shall make contributions on behalf of all annuitants in an
     7  amount equal to one-half of the amount certified by the board as
     8  necessary to fund the additional liabilities for minimum and
     9  supplemental annuities in accordance with section 8328(d).
    10     (c)  Contributions from Federal funds.--Commonwealth
    11  contributions as required by this section, when paid for
    12  employees whose salaries are wholly or partially Federally
    13  funded, shall be paid from Federal funds in that same ratio in
    14  which such employees salaries are paid.
    15     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
